The Difference between Charmane and Charm

Image
Back in high school, the majority knew me by my real first name "Charmane", now however I am simply known as "Charm". It maybe a simple change in the name people address me by, for me however it is so much more. The change in the name for me symbolized a reinvention of myself and sure enough I was indeed reinvented. It really surprises me how so much has changed all in a span of four months. I did not expect it to be easy and indeed it was not. It has been an interesting first semester but I would not change it for the world. Transitioning from that easy go lucky high school girl, to the now what I think is an independent and more responsible person has not been a walk in the park, it really took a lot. My first semester in UPLB was not at all easy. I still remember the overwhelming feeling I got the first time I knew that I got into UP, that however is nothing compared to the feeling I got when I first set foot into my first class. Turns out I was in for a big ...

I am so Overwhelmed

The end of the semester is looming upon me, what used to be such a fast paced jungle suddenly begins to stop and time seems to drag by so slow. The sweet irony of what I am feeling right now. I am really really overwhelmed with everything that is going on in my life right now. When I was in high school there really was a certain time  of the quarter which we students called hell week but now in college such hell weeks are so common that some refer to it as a hell month or to make an exaggeration  a hell sem and to some extent I can't help but agree with such sentiments. I am a college freshman with a load of 15 units, imagine, only 15 units, what is that compared to the 20+ units that others have. Well maybe it'll help justify that I am studying in UP, not to come off as boastful but really having 15 units is already stressful, I just can't imagine how hard it will be come next semester when I will have 18 units plus a P.E class. With everything going on, I really jus...

When Limits are Reached

When the tears won't stop flowing and it seems as though you are crying for no reason then something is terribly wrong. At first thought I would attribute my mood swings to me being a hormonal teenager but then again there really are reasons as to why someone would cry. As Albert Smith said "tears are the safe valves of the heart when too much pressure is laid upon it. Everyone of us has their own limits, sadly mine was reached sooner rather than later, I really thought that I was already strong but alas I was not. It really pains me to talk about such personal things but then when limits are reached, consequences must be faced. I do not know what came over me as I wrote that message and posted that status update, maybe I was too caught up with my emotions, maybe I was carried away, It really was painful to see pictures that would remind me of the way we were and compare it now to what is at present. I can't believe that so much has changed, never in my wildest d...

Just to Clear Things Up :)

I find it really amusing that many of my high school friends are mistaken on what degree program I chose. Many of you think that I am a student of Communication Arts, Journalism or often you think that I am an English Major student, but then to keep you all posted I am none of these for I am a proud BA Sociology student at the University of the Philippines at Los Banos. Yes, I have considered taking up the aforementioned courses but then I settled on taking up Sociology, so there I think that that cleared things up :)

The First Month

Time does fly when you are having fun. It seems like only yesterday when I chose to enroll at UPLB and now even I cannot believe it, It has exactly been a month since I started college. The first month seems like a whirl, it has gone by so fast, without me realizing it, I have settled into a new routine, a new life and a new environment. Being in college has taught me many things, as I made the choice to study here I knew that it would not be easy, I knew that I would encounter new things but never did I expect to enjoy it immensely. Looking back I had many doubts as I entered college, I asked many questions and I was very bothered, but looking back now, those questions seem to be very foolish. True, the workload is immensely heavy and the academic atmosphere can really be felt, but there is more to it than that, I now have found friends of my own, I've met new people and I've learned to be more independent. Maybe its too early to say, but then for the time being I really...

A Bit of Change

Holla! so this post is really about nothing in particular but then again it concerns my blog as a whole. It just came to my attention that most of my blog posts here contain things about my everyday experiences and day to day life. I know not many will want to read about the rantings of a teenage girl so now I am planning on changing it up a bit, although my posts will still be about me, I will be trying to incorporate things that would be very much interesting just like my most viewed post here. Another thing that would be on here would be my college adventures since I am currently a College freshman and btw thank you to you my readers for bearing with my long rants.

Just Another Panic Attack

High School wasn't meant to last forever, its just that simple, but then again it is just really hard to let go. St. Mary's Academy - Pasay was my home for the last 4 years. It was where almost everyone knew me, it was where my comfort zone was and it did feel like my home away from home. I recently graduated high school and before I know it, the time is already here for me to enter college. High school seemed to be a drag, but now as I look back at the fond memories those four years now just seem to be a snap. I've been used to my panic attacks lately, that feeling of excitement, then it comes, that feeling of anxiety, of worry and panic. In just a few days' time I will be out of my comfort zone, I will be out in the open, I will be vulnerable for the first time in quite a long time. Being in the sheltered walls of SMAP all throughout high school, I find it really hard to comprehend the idea of me leaving, maybe what makes it harder for me is the fact that I...
