The Movie that was High School

*I actually intended this to be published in our school publication but due to several factors it was not included in the final draft*

Maybe you've heard it a thousand times, it’s cliché I know, but as a graduating senior, it truly can be said that High school is and was the time of my life.

We’ve seen the movies and we’ve read the books, high school is the time of our life wherein we come of age, we experiment, we explore and we experience.

I can clearly recall the first time that I walked through the corridors of the high school department, sure it was scary, it was daunting and I was full of apprehension. Will I fit in? Will I make new friends? And most of all Will I survive High school? I was such a nervous freshman back then; looking back it was an experience that left its mark.

FOUR YEARS – now many would consider this to be a long time, but believe me once you’re there, once you realize that you are about to leave and that you’re about to finish high school a gloomy feeling sinks in and you will be wishing for time to freeze and stop or maybe even for time to go back and rewind, you will be begging for just a little more time to be with friends, classmates, schoolmates, batchmates and teachers.

High school was hard, it’s like a fight for survival every time that the exams are about to come, endless tasks, sleepless nights and  a mountain of things to do, well that is just all part of the fun. True, high school is not a simple walk in the park, it is much more, and it’s about the friends you’ve made, the experiences you’ve shared and the bonds that you’ve formed.

High school is the time for you to discover yourself and your identity, it’s a time wherein you explore possibilities and experience what life has to offer, it’s a time for us to get to know ourselves and others better.

High school primarily is and was about US, it was about the choices we’ve made and the paths we took, true college will be a whole new experience but I believe in the wise words that others before me have said, there is nothing comparable to the time that you were in high school.

High school is where every moment will be cherished, every smile will be remembered, every triumph will be applauded and every memory will be treasured.

High school was indeed a special time in my life just like in movies and books it just did not taught me simple knowledge, on the contrary it has taught me much more than that, High school was where I learned life’s lessons, High school was a place where I became free and where I became ME.

As I am about to leave my High School life there is indeed a lot to be thankful for, my teachers, my friends, my classmates, my batch mates, my school mates and among others the Father Almighty who have blessed me during this time of my life.

Looking back at the past four years, it seems as though everything is now a blur, for everything just went by so fast but one thing is for sure, High school certainly left a mark in my heart, I would not change it for anything for High school was just like a great movie with the perfect cast, the perfect setting and a perfect story.
